DEN MEETING ON 10/14/10 @ 6PM

Hi Guys,
For our next Den meeting we will all be meeting in the parking lot at Box Seats at 332 Farnum Pike in Smithfield, RI. From there we will car pool over to the Mowry Conservation area to look for and hopefully hear the Great Horned Owls that live there. I did this hike at night in the rain about one month ago, but unfortunately did not hear a thing. I thought this would be something different for the boys to experience. They can bring a flash light or head lamp to light their way, but NOT to shine on the owls-if we see/hear any. We can have our snack at the trail head when we finish up. We will be working on the following from the book:5A-5C-5D-5E-6B-12B-12C.

and find the Great Horned Owl to listen to the calls and hoots we are expecting to hear.

The hike is only a mile long-if that. We can extend it though to do a second small loop.

I want to meet @ 6PM, as the owls are supposed to be most vocal at dusk and early evening. If it rains, we will meet at Scouter's Hall and work on something different-or reschedule.

Good footwear is advised.

This should be a real hoot.....I hope.

FIRST DEN MEETING INFORMATION

Just wanted to let you know what exactly it was we did the other night, so you can keep track of the advancements in the book.

3F.....BE A MEMBER OF A COLOR GUARD

8D.....FAMILY TREE NEEDED TO BE DONE AT HOME AND BROUGHT IN.

8C..... START A SCRAP BOOK-FILL IN THE INFO ON THE FORM I PASSED OUT AT REG. NIGHT. BRING I SO IT CAN BE PLACED IN THE SCRAPBOOK.

16A.....PHYSICAL FITNESS. WE WILL CONTINUALLY DO THESE.

24A.....HELP A BOY THROUGH THE BOBCAT TRAIL.

The next meeting will be held on 10/14/10. Please try and wrap up anything above you may not have done and get it back to me.

I will let you in on what we will be doing at the next meeting.

PACK 7 MOVIE NIGHT

1st Annual Outdoor Movie Night!!!!

Please join us as we kick off the new scouting year with hot dogs,drinks, popcorn and an outdoor movie!!!

When: Thursday, August 26th
Where: Scouters Hall Backyard
Time: 6:30-9:30
RSVP: Please let your den leader know if you will be coming by August 22nd.

We will be offering free hot dogs and drinks from 6:30-8:00. The movie will begin at 8pm with free popcorn and drinks. There will be candy available to purchase.

Please bring chairs and bug spray!!!

If you know anyone who might be interested in joining our Pack in September, feel free to invite them along!!!

CHUCKWAGON DERBY

Hi Everyone,

The Chuckwagon Derby is only a week away. The date is May 22nd. We will meet at Cub World at 8:00am. I have the checklist of items needed, however, the boys do need to bring a lunch, drink, and maybe some snacks. They should bring a raincoat(just incase). I will also bring some water and snacks for the gang. Please be sure to be in uniform. I am going to attempt to make the Chuckwagon steerable this year. A major oversight last year.

One other reminder. The Summer Campout at Buck Hill is going to be here soon. Please be sure to have your forms with payment in by 5/15/10.

MARCH 2010 EVENTS

WE MADE IT TO MARCH. THE WARM WEATHER IS ON THE WAY. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING DATES:

MARCH 11.....DEN MEETING 6:30 AT SCOUTER'S HALL. MY GOAL IS TO TRY AND CATCH EVERYBODY UP, SO ALL THE BOYS GET THEIR WOLF BADGES AT THE SAME TIME. WE ALSO HAVE DONE ENOUGH ELECTIVES TO EARN OUR FIRST GOLD ARROW POINT.

MARCH 13.....DISTRICT PINEWOOD DERBY

MARCH 20.....FIELD TRIP TO QUONSETT POINT. THE PLAN IS TO BE THERE FOR 9:00-9:30AM. I WILL UPDATE YOU AS TO THE LOGISTICS OF GETTING THERE IN THE WEEKS TO COME.

OK you can tell everyone to be here at 9 - 9:30.It takes 40 Min to get
here. Take 295 to 95 to RT-4 take second exit off 4 to 403e to Quonset.
Pass the golf course, over rail road tracks, second left across from
General Dynamics take Conway, Then second left on Cripe to the gate on
your right. They will be expecting you with my name.

Now on the base, after thru the gate take left then a right then a left
go to end you will see the big fuel tanks take a right and follow it
around a short corner park in the parking lot on your right.
